How to Convert Word Perfect to OpenOffice

1. Start Open Office Writer. Click on the 'File' tab, then 'Open...' The computer's file directory will open. Select any document in .wpd format and click 'Open.'
2. Go to 'File' again and click 'Save As...'. A pop-up saving screen will appear.
3. In the 'File Name' text box, name your new file. Do not include any symbols, colons or periods, as Open Office cannot save names containing these symbols.
4. Click on the 'down' arrow, right of the name 'File Type.' Select 'OpenDocument Text (.odt).' Click the 'Save' button to convert it.
