How to Type Russian on Microsoft Word


Enable Russian
1. Click the 'Start' button and select the Control Panel.
2. Choose 'Clock, Language, and Region' and select 'Change keyboards or other input methods.'
3. Click 'Change keyboards.' You will see a screen with installed keyboards.
4. Click 'Add' then scroll through the list to Russian. Click the plus sign next to it to expand it.
5. Click the box to place a checkmark next to 'Russian.' You can click the 'Preview' button to see the keyboard layout, if you wish. Click 'OK' when done.
6. Click 'OK' again to get out of the language screen. Close the Region and Language window and the Control Panel window.
Type in Russian
7. Open Word.
8. Click the language icon in the status bar, typically located in the bottom right corner of your desktop. If you have been typing in English, it should show 'EN.'
9. Select 'RU' for Russian. You can now type in Russian.
