How to Create a Flowchart in Word 2007

1. On the Insert tab, click on 'SmartArt' in the Illustrations section. The Choose a SmartArt Graphic box will open.
2. Decide on what type of flowchart you need. The Hierarchy option offers the most traditional types of flowcharts, but other options are available. Click on a type on the left side of the box.
3. Choose a style of flowchart that you like. The styles appear on the right side of the box. When you find one, double-click on it.
4. Enter text into the flowchart. Click inside each shape and start typing. Change the size and style of the font if necessary. Highlight the text that you want to format, and choose 'Font.' Use the options in the box that opens to adjust the size, and to bold, italicize or underline the text.
5. Add more boxes to the flowchart. Click on a box where you want to add a new one. On the Design tab in the Create Graphic section, click on 'Add Shape.' Choose the appropriate option.
6. Remove boxes that you don't need. Click on the box that you want to delete to select it and press the 'Delete' key.
7. Customize the flowchart by changing the color, layout, design or shape. To do this, use the numerous tools in the Design and Format tabs that appear when you insert a flowchart.
