How to Hide Headers in Word
1. Go to Microsoft Word and open the document with headers.
2. Select “View” and “Header and Footer” to open the “Header and Footer” toolbar. Type in the header you’d like to use, then click on the “Close Header and Footer” button in the toolbar. You’ll see the header on your page (in a semi-transparent font).
3. Hide the headers on your page by selecting “View” and “Normal.” The headers won’t appear on your page.
4. Create a header that shows on one page, but not another by placing your cursor in the beginning of the page where you’d like the header to appear. Insert a section break by clicking on “Insert” and “Break.” Then, choose “Next page” and “OK.”
5. Stay on the page (where the header will be added) and click on “View” and “Header and Footer” to access the header. Type in a header of your choice, then click on the “Page Setup” button in the “Header and Footer” toolbar.
6. Select the “Layout” tab in the “Page Setup” dialog box and place a checkmark by “Different first page.” Choose “This point forward” under “Apply to” and click “OK.” The header will be hidden on the first page, but not on the remaining pages.
7. Hide headers on your screen and when they are printed by selecting the text or contents within your header. Click on "Format" and "Font." In the "Font" tab, place a checkmark by "Hidden" and press "OK." You must disable hidden text from showing for this option to work.
8. Make sure hidden text does not display by selecting "Tools" and "Options." Select the "View" tab and leave "Hidden text" and "All" unchecked.
9. Print your document by selecting "File" and "Print." Ensure that hidden text won't print by clicking the "Options" button in the "Print" dialog box. Uncheck "Hidden text" if it's selected. Then press "OK." Press "OK" to print your document.
