How to Make an E

Using Microsoft Word
1. Open Word. Adjust the default 8.5 inch by 11 inch page size to your e-card preference by clicking the 'Page Layout' tab. Click the 'Size' button. Select one of the preset Word page sizes, or click 'More Paper Sizes' and create a custom e-card size.
2. Type the e-card greeting across the top of the Word page. Highlight the text, and click the 'Home' tab. Increase the text size, and change its appearance using the drop-down menus and buttons in the 'Font' section of the ribbon. Press the 'Enter' key to move to the next line, and add additional text, such as a personal message and your name.
3. Add a custom photo to the e-card by clicking the 'Insert' tab. Click the 'Picture' button, browse to the picture and double-click it, and then drag it into place on the card.
4. Give the e-card a colorful background by clicking the 'Page Layout' tab again. Click the 'Page Color' button. Choose a small, colored square to fill the Word page background with color.
5. Click the 'File' menu. Click 'Save As.' Type a name for the e-card file, and click the 'Save' button.
Using Microsoft Publisher
6. Open Publisher. Click the 'Blank 11 x 8.5' button on the 'Available Templates' screen. Adjust the page size to your preferences by clicking the 'Page Design' tab. Click the 'Page Size' button. Choose a size from the 'Built In' section, or click 'Page Setup' to customize the card.
7. Click the 'Insert' tab. Click the 'Draw Text Box' button. Draw a text box on the e-card or multiple text boxes if desired. Click into the text box(es), and type the e-card text, such as the recipient and sender names, the card message and a personal note.
8. Add Publisher's in-program art to the e-card by clicking the 'Clip Art' button on the ribbon. Type a term into the 'Search for' box. Click 'Go,' scroll through the images and double-click a picture to add it to the card. Repeat to add more images.
9. Color the card's background by clicking the 'Page Design' tab. Click the 'Background' button on the ribbon. Scroll through the background options, and click one to commit it to the card.
10. Click the 'File' tab. Select 'Save As.' Name the card file, select a place to save it on the computer and click the 'Save' button.
