How to Print Word 2007 File Names


1. Click on the “Insert” tab at the top of the Word 2007 window.
2. Click on the “Header” button if you want to insert the file name into the document header, or the "Footer" button if you want to insert the file name into the document footer. Select the “Blank” option from the menu; Word will open the special “Header and Footer Tools” editing tab.
3. Click the “Insert” tab again to return to the “Insert” menu bar.
4. Click the “Quick Parts” button and select “Field.”
5. Select “Document Information” from the “Categories” drop-down menu. The list of Field Names will change. Select “FileName” from the list of Field Names.
6. If you want to format the file name, highlight an option in the “Format” menu. If you want to print the file name and its location, check the “Add path to filename” option.
7. Click “OK” to insert the file name into your header.
8. Click on the “Header and Footer Tools” tab and select “Close Header and Footer” to return to normal editing mode.
