How to Insert the PI Symbol
Microsoft Word
1. Click 'Start,' 'All Programs, 'Microsoft Word.' Click the Office logo button and 'Open' to open the Microsoft Word document that you want to place the 'pi' symbol into.
2. Place your cursor at the position where you want to insert the symbol.
3. Click on the 'Insert' menu at the top of the screen.
4. Point your mouse over the 'Symbols' option.
5. Click the 'Symbol' option from the menu that appears.
6. Click on the 'Symbols' tab in the 'Symbol' dialog window.
7. Click on the 'pi' symbol.
8. Click the 'Insert' button at the bottom of the 'Symbol' dialog window to insert the character.
OpenOffice
9. Double click on the OpenOffice document that you want to add the 'pi' symbol to. This will open the file in the OpenOffice Writer program.
10. Click on the 'Insert' menu at the top of the screen.
11. Click on the 'Special Character' option.
12. Click the 'Pi' symbol from the 'Special Characters' window.
13. Click the 'OK' button to insert the symbol into the document.

14. Click 'Start,' 'All Programs,' 'Accessories,' 'Notepad.' Click 'File,' 'Open' and double click the HTML document to which you want to add the 'pi' symbol.
15. Place your cursor in the position where you want the 'pi' symbol.
16. Type the characters 'Π' for the capital letter 'Pi.' Type the characters 'π' for the lowercase letter 'pi.'
17. Click 'File' menu and choose the 'Save' button to save the file. Click the 'X' in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to close the document.
18. Click 'Start,' 'Internet Explorer.' Click on the 'File' menu and click the 'Open File' menu option. Double click the file to which you added the 'pi' symbol and review the changes.
