How to Find the Temporary Backup of a Deleted File in Word
Word 2010
1. Open Microsoft Word.
2. Click the 'File' menu, and select the option for 'Recent.'
3. Click the option for 'Recover Unsaved Documents.'
Word 2007
4. Open Microsoft Word. Locate and click the 'Microsoft Office' button in the upper left corner of the program.
5. Select 'Word Options.'
6. Click the 'Save' button, and make a note of the path that is in the 'AutoRecover file location' text box. Click the 'Cancel' button.
7. Click the Windows 'Start' button, and click 'Computer.' Double-click the (C:), and go to the folder location you noted earlier.
8. Right-click on any (.asd) file, and select 'Open With' from the context menu. Select 'Microsoft Word' for the program to open the file.
Word 2003/2002
9. Open Microsoft Word. Click the 'Tools' drop-down menu, and select 'Options.'
10. Go to the 'File Locations' tab, and double-click the option for 'AutoRecover files.' Make a note of the path that is displayed. Click 'Cancel' and then 'Close.'
11. Click the Windows 'Start' button, and select the option for 'Computer.' Double-click the (C:), and go to the folder location you noted earlier.
12. Right-click on any (.asd) file, and select 'Open With' from the context menu. Select 'Microsoft Word' for the program to open the file.
