How to Make a Banner in Microsoft Word
1. Launch a Web browser and navigate to Microsoft’s official website for downloading Office templates (see Resources). Type 'banner" in the Search field and press "Enter."
2. Browse through the variety of banner templates that are available. Find a template with a design, style and purpose that most closely matches your needs. Make sure that the template is available in the version of Microsoft Word that you have. Most banner templates print portions of the banner on standard letter-size sheets of paper. By combining all of the pieces together, you create the long banner.
3. Click the link for your chosen banner template. Click the “Download” button and accept Microsoft’s service agreement. Your template should immediately begin downloading. Save the template file in an easy-to-remember location on your computer.
4. Open Microsoft Word, click the "File" tab, choose "New" and click "New from existing..." In the pop-up window, navigate to the saved banner template file on your computer. Select the file and click "Open." A new document based upon the banner template you downloaded should now be open in Word.
5. Customize your banner. Experiment with colors, font styles and sizes. Change or add text and images so that your banner best represents the message you are trying to convey.
6. Click the "File" tab and choose "Save As." Save the file under a different name on your computer so that you can quickly access it if you need to make any changes.
