How to Put a Text Field in MS Word
1. Open Microsoft Word. Open a new document. If you have Word 2000, 2002 or 2003, click the 'View' button. Highlight 'Toolbars' and click 'Forms' to activate the form toolbar. The form toolbar will appear either attached to the other toolbars or on the document itself. Click the gray top of the toolbar and drag it around to move it.For Word 2007 or 2010, click the 'Microsoft Office' button, and then click 'Word Options.' Select 'Popular' and click the check box next to 'Show Developer Tab in the Ribbon.' Click 'OK.'
2. If you are using Word 2000, 2002 or 2003, click the 'ab' icon on the form toolbar. This is the text form field button. A text field will appear on the document.If you are using Word 2007 or 2010, click the 'Developer' tab. Click on the 'Legacy Tools' icon and then select the 'ab' button. The text field will appear on the document.
3. Right-click the text field. Click 'Properties.' Select the desired format you wish to use, such as text, numbers, the current date or current time. Enter the desired text into the 'Default' box. Microsoft Word will automatically fill out current dates and times. Click 'OK' to save the changes.
