How to Convert Word Documents to Tif or PDF

Convert to TIFF
1. Install the Microsoft Office Document Imaging tool. This allows you to print to a TIFF file using the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer. It's included in Office 2003 (if you're using Office 2003, skip to Step 4) but is not installed by default in Office 2007. To install, click the 'Start' button then 'Control Panel.'
2. Click 'Programs and Features.' Select Microsoft Office from the list of programs, then click 'Change.' Click 'Add or Remove Features' and 'Continue.'
3. Click the plus sign next to 'Office Tools.' Click the arrow next to 'Microsoft Office Document Imaging.' Select 'Run All from my Computer' and 'Continue.'
4. Open a Word document you want to convert.
5. Click the 'Microsoft Office Button' (or 'File' in Word 2003). Click 'Print.' Select 'Microsoft Office Document Image Writer' in the 'Name' list.
6. Click 'Properties.' Click 'Advanced.' Select 'TIFF -- Monochrome Fax' under 'Output Format.' Click 'OK.'
7. Click 'OK' in the 'Print' window. A 'Save as' dialog box will appear. Select 'View Document Image' and click 'OK.' The TIFF file will open in Microsoft Office Document Imaging.
Convert to PDF
8. Open a Word document you want to convert.
9. Click the 'Microsoft Office Button.' Scroll to 'Save As' and select 'PDF or XPS.'
10. Type a new name for the file in the 'File Name' field. Make sure 'PDF' is selected as the format type.
11. Select 'Open File After Publishing' if you want to immediately view the document.
12. Click 'Publish.'
