How to Create Company Logo in Word 2007

1. Open a blank document in Microsoft Word 2007. Click the 'Insert' tab on the main menu.
2. Click 'Shapes' under the 'Illustrations' section of the 'Insert' menu. Choose a shape for the back ground of your logo (circle, square, triangle or octagon, for instance) and draw a box sized at approximately half of your page.
3. Sort through the various choices under 'Shape Styles' and choose one that is consistent with your company colors. Click the white space outside of the shape so that it is not selected.
4. Select the 'WordArt' arrow on the 'Insert' menu. Choose a WordArt image that you think is appropriate to represent your business. For instance, if your business is a clown party service, the rainbow Word Art might be an ideal choice. Type in your company name.
5. Click inside of the WordArt and select 'Arrange' inside of the 'Format' box (automatically comes up when you use WordArt). Under 'Text Wrapping' select 'In Front of Text.' Move the WordArt where you want it. It's okay if the company name falls outside of the shape that you created in Step 3.
6. Select 'Shadow Effects' while still on the 'Format' menu. Choose one of the shadow effects to help bring out your company name more.
7. Go back to the 'Shapes' section under 'Illustrations' again. This time select a simple line. Place the line underneath the company name. Change the color if you want (select the line, then click 'Shape Outlines' under the 'Shape Styles' section that pops up).
8. Click 'Text Box' and create a simple box over the bottom of the shape (this is optional). Type in a short company slogan of three to five words long, your website address or another short piece of information that you find important to your company's identity. Click 'Shape Fill' and select 'No Fill' then 'Shape Outline' and choose 'No Outline' for the text box.
9. Select all of the words inside of the text box and go to the 'Font' section on the 'Home' tab to change it to a color that is also consistent with your company's chosen colors or just select a neutral color like white, black or gray. Make sure that the color contrasts well against the background. Change the size of the text if necessary.
10. Click the company name with your mouse, then hold down the 'Shift' key and click all of the rest of your elements as well. Right-click the logo selection and choose 'Grouping' then 'Group.' Your logo is now ready to cut and paste.
