How to Format a Picture in Word 2007

1. Open Word 2007, which automatically defaults to a blank 8.5-by-11-inch page on the screen.
2. Click the 'Insert' tab at the top of the screen and click the 'Picture' button immediately below it. This brings up a navigation window. Browse to where the picture to edit is located and double-click it so it opens in the Word window. Notice the toolbar at the top of the screen changes to the 'Picture Tools' bar.
3. Hover your cursor over one of the small sky pictures in the 'Picture Styles' section of the toolbar. Without clicking any of the options, watch as your picture changes to styles such as shadow, framed and rounded corners. Click one of the styles to add it to the picture or move your cursor away from the section to leave the picture as it is.
4. Click the 'Artistic Effects' menu on the left side of the toolbar under the 'Adjust' section. Hover your cursor over each of the menu options without clicking to see how the picture looks edited into various styles, including watercolor, line drawing, charcoal drawings and others.
5. Fix bad lighting in your picture by clicking the 'Corrections' menu and hovering your cursor over the images in the 'Brightness and Contrast' section. Watch how your picture becomes either lighter or darker with each style.
6. Click the 'Picture Border' menu in the middle of the toolbar and click a colored box to instantly add a border to your picture. Click the 'Weight' option on the drop-down menu and select a line width to determine the thickness of the border.
7. Click the 'File' tab, click 'Save As' and rename the file. Then save it to your computer.
