How to Display Vertical Text in Word 2007


Display Vertical Text in a Shape
1. Insert a shape. Go to the 'Insert' tab, click on 'Shapes' and select the shape you want to use. Draw the shape onto the Word document by clicking on the page and dragging your mouse where you want to display the shape.
2. Right-click the shape and select 'Add Text.'
3. Type the text you want to display vertically onto the shape.
4. Click on the shape to select it. Go to the 'Format' tab under 'Drawing Tools.'
5. Click the 'Text Direction' button in the 'Text' group. Select the vertical text option you want to display.

6. Insert a text box. Go to the 'Insert' tab, click on 'Text Box' and select 'Draw Text Box.' Draw the text box onto the Word document by clicking on the page and dragging your mouse where you want to display the shape.
7. Type the text you want to display vertically into the text box.
8. Click on the text box to select it. Go to the 'Format' tab under 'Drawing Tools.'
9. Click the 'Text Direction' button in the 'Text' group. Select the vertical text option you want to display.

10. Insert a table. Go to the 'Insert' tab, click 'Table' and select the table format you want to use.
11. Click inside the cell in which you want to display vertical text.
12. Right-click the cell and select 'Text Direction.' The 'Text Direction - Table Cell' dialog box will appear.
13. Select the vertical text option you want to display and click 'OK.'
14. Type the text into the cell. It will display vertically.
