How to Format a Document in Microsoft Word 2007
1. Open the Microsoft Word document you want to format.
2. Highlight the text that you want to format.
3. Click the 'Home' tab and click the 'Font' drop-down list in the 'Font' group. The name of each font is formatted as an example of the font. Click a font name to format the highlighted text.
4. Change the number from the 'Font Size' drop-down list to increase or decrease the size of the text.
5. Click the arrow next to the 'Font Color' button and select a font color. If you want to create a custom color that is not listed in the examples, click 'More Colors.'
6. Click the 'Bold' button to make the text bold. Click the 'Italic' button to make the text italicized. Click the 'Underline' button to underline the text. Click the 'Strikethrough' button to draw a line through the middle of the highlighted text.
7. Click the 'Change Case' button to adjust the text to sentence case, lowercase, uppercase and to capitalize each word.
8. Click the 'Text Color Highlighting' button to highlight the area around the text. Click the arrow next to the button to change the highlighting color.
9. Click the 'Line Spacing' button in the 'Paragraph' group to increase or decrease the amount of spacing between each line of text.
10. Click the 'Align Left,' 'Center,' 'Align Right' or 'Justify' buttons to change the positing of the text.
11. Click the 'Bullets,' 'Numbering' or 'Multilevel' buttons to create a list.
12. Click the 'Increase Indent' or 'Decrease Indent' to adjust the indents of your document.
13. Click the 'Border' button to add bordering to the selected text.
