How to Include Notes in Word Count in Word

1. Start Microsoft Word 2007 and open an existing document from your files that contains footnotes or endnotes that you would like to include in the word count of the document.
2. Choose the 'Review' tab at the top of the Word 2007 screen so the Review ribbon is displayed just below it.
3. Locate the 'Proofing' section and click the 'Word Count' button to display the Word Count dialog box.
4. Add a check mark to the box before the phrase 'Include text boxes, footnotes and endnotes' at the bottom of the Word Count dialog box.
5. Click the 'Close' button to close the dialog box. The Word Count you see displayed at the bottom left of your Word 2007 screen will now include any text in the footnotes and endnotes of your document.
