How to Convert RTF Files to Word

1. Open Microsoft Word.
2. Click the 'Microsoft Office Button,' then select 'Open.'
3. Locate an RTF file you want to open. Select the file and click 'Open.'
4. Click the 'Microsoft Office Button' again and select 'Save as.' The 'Save as' dialog box will open.
5. Click the drop-down menu next to 'Save as Type.'
6. Choose the type of Word document to which you want to convert the document. In Word 2007, if you select 'Word Document,' it will save the file as a Word 2007 .docx file, which is not compatible with other versions of Word. Select 'Word Document 97-2003 Document' to save a compatible Word file.
7. Click 'Save' in Microsoft Word.
