How to Change Margins in Microsoft Word

Margins
1.
Click the 'view' and from there 'print layout' at the top of your Microsoft Word screen. This gives you an exact replica of what your printed page will look like as well as giving you two margin rules. One runs vertically along the side of your page while the other is aligned with the top of the page.
2. Click the top margin ruler to change either right or left margins in Microsoft Word. This is accomplished by clicking and dragging your mouse to the desired margin. This will not give you exact settings, but is good if you want to estimate margin spacing. This is the easiest way to change margins for either a section, page or an entire document.
3. Click and highlight a section in the event you wish to change the margins for just that particular section. This is often done to highlight an area of a document, placing more emphasis on it. Repeat the procedure in step 2.
4. Bring your cursor back to the top of the page in your Word document by pressing the 'page up' key until you are at the beginning of the document (or click back at the start of your page). Once you are at the beginning, proceed to click and drag margins (either vertical or horizontal) to change and adjust them as needed.
5. Click 'file' and 'page setup' on the top menu in Microsoft Word. This will display the 'margins' feature in a small dialog box on your screen, along with other features. You will want to make sure the 'margins' tab is selected. This is useful for documents that need precise margin measurements, such as research papers or files that require specific formats.
6. Click the boxes by the left, right, top, bottom margins accordingly and change the numbers as needed. Click the 'OK' button on the bottom when you are finished.
