How to Use Font Effects in Microsoft Word 2007
1. Open Word and create the text you want by typing it into the blank document. Select the word or words you want to apply a text effect to by left-clicking your mouse and dragging until you have selected everything. Click the lower-right corner of the 'Font' ribbon, and a dialogue box pops up that gives you formatting options for fonts.
2. Choose the effect or effects you want to apply to your font from this dialogue box. There are several choices, including shadow, emboss and engrave. Check the box beside each effect you want to apply and click the 'OK' button. The dialogue box will close, and the effect you've chosen will be applied. You can apply font type and color from this same box or from the font section of the 'Home' ribbon.
3. Select another section of text you want to apply effects to and go to the 'Insert' ribbon. Press the WordArt button, and a dialogue box opens that presents you with an array of shapes you can apply to your text. Choose the shape you like best, and Word applies it to your selected text with a box and arrows around it. You can manipulate the shape of the text further by clicking on one of the arrows and holding your mouse button down while you drag the text where you want it. You can use the ribbon to apply different colors and textures to your WordArt text effect.
