How to Open a WPS File Extension With MS Word


1. Start Microsoft Word. Go to the 'File' menu in Word 2003 and click 'Open.' Click the 'Microsoft Office Button' in Word 2007 and click 'Open.' Click the 'File' tab in Word 2010 and click 'Open.' The 'Open' dialog box appears.
2. Click the arrow next to the 'Files of Type' box. Select 'All Files (*.*).' This enables you to locate files other than Word documents, such as .wps files.
3. Navigate to the location of the Microsoft Works .wps file that you wish to open.
4. Click on the file name to select it. Click the 'Open' button. The file opens in Word.
5. Save the file as a Word document if desired. Click on the 'File' menu in Word 2003 and select 'Save As.' Click the 'Microsoft Office Button' in Word 2007 and click 'Save As.' Click the 'File' tab in Word 2010 and click 'Save As.' Select 'Microsoft Word document (.doc)' in the 'Files of Type' list and click 'Save.'
