How Do I Set Number of Inserted Spaces for Tab Key in Word Document?

1. Decide how many spaces you want to set for the tab key.
2. Count out the spaces in a blank Word document as you type them, until you make the stretch of space one inch long. For example, there are 23 spaces per inch in 12-point Times New Roman font, so if you want 10 spaces per tab, that’s 10/23 = 0.435 inches.
3. Calculate the inches you want per tab, dividing the answer in Step 1 by the answer from Step 2.
4. Click "Format."
5. Click "Paragraph."
6. Click "Tabs" in the lower left corner.
7. Enter the number of inches you calculated in Step 3. Select OK.
