How to Make Your Own Business Cards

Word Processor
1. Open the word processing software on your desktop or laptop computer. Access the software's templates, which usually include a template for a standard-sized business card measuring 2-by-3 1/2 inches. Name the document and save it on your desktop.
2. Select "Insert" from the menu at the top of your word processing screen and add your logo to the business card using a JPG or GIF file, if available. Consider using a clip art image. These are often provided in your software package, depending on the brand.
3. Type your company's name in your typeface of choice. Center the name and enlarge it to fit the business card's width so that clients can see the name clearly. Add your slogan underneath the name, if available. Type your name and title, followed by your contact information and your company's website address. You may switch the order of such information to make your business card more aesthetically pleasing as needed. Save the document when complete.
4. Print out the business card on card stock or perforated business card stock, which can be purchased at an office supply store. Measure and lightly draw lines between business cards with a sharp pencil and ruler if you use non-perforated card stock. Separate the cards by cutting them with scrapbooking scissors.
Online
5. Open an account with an online professional printing service. Generally speaking, you only need to provide an email address, a mailing address and credit card information. Such services print low-cost, professional-looking marketing documents for small businesses.
6. Browse the printing service's business card templates based on theme and budget. Follow the steps provided by the service to select a business card template. Enter your information in the designated fields. Such programs allow you to preview documents and save drafts before you pay.
7. Approve your business card proof -- the document a printing service creates showing what your business card will look like -- to finalize the project. Make changes if necessary. Be advised that some companies charge additional fees above the initial cost for file modifications.
