How to Find a Word Product Key in the Registry

1. Quit all programs that run using Microsoft Word or Office.
2. Click the 'Start' button and then click 'Run.'
3. In the open box, type the command 'Regedit' and click 'OK' or 'Continue.' The registry will now be open.
4. Expand the registry to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall. You will see a list of GUIDs (Globally Unique Identifiers). Each one of these GUIDs contains information about specific programs on your computer.
5. Click on each GUID and then click 'Display Name' in the right-hand pane to see the program to which it refers. When you find the correct GUID for Microsoft Office, click on the Product ID key and write down the Data column value.
6. Contact Microsoft customer service at 800-936-5700 with as much information as you have about your product. If you are unable to locate the Product ID key in the registry, inform the representative of this information.
