How to Change Default Numbering Format for Endnotes in Word
1. Start Microsoft Word 2007 and open the Normal.dot template from the Templates folder inside the Microsoft Office folder on your computer.
2. Choose the 'References' tab from the top of the Word 2007 screen to display the References ribbon.
3. Locate the 'Footnotes' section and click the small arrow icon in the lower right corner to open the Footnote and Endnote dialog box.
4. Select the 'Endnotes' radio button in the Footnote and Endnote dialog box.
5. Display the 'Number format' drop-down list, and then choose the type of numbering format you want to use as the default setting each time you create an endnote in Word.
6. Click the 'Apply' button to apply the changes and close the Footnote and Endnote dialog box.
7. Insert an endnote anywhere into the Normal.dot template and then delete it. Save the template with the new changes, and then close the document. Now when a endnote is inserted into any Word document, the new type of numbering format will be used.
