How to Insert a Callout in Word


1. Open Microsoft Word and click the "Insert" tab from the toolbar at the top of the page.
2. Click the "Shapes" button. A menu will open that lists several categories of shapes you can insert into a Word document.
3. Look to the "Callout" section and select a callout shape to insert into your document. After you select a callout, the shapes menu will close.
4. Hover over the document with your mouse; you will see a cross instead of your normal pointer. Left-click where you want to insert the callout and drag the mouse to insert the callout.
