How to Make a Print Layout the Default View Layout in Microsoft Word


Word 2010
1. Click the 'File' tab to bring up the backstage view.
2. Click 'Options' from the menu on the left side of the screen.
3. Click the 'Advanced' tab in the 'Word Options' pop-up window.
4. Scroll down until you reach the 'General' category.
5. Uncheck the box next to 'Allow opening a document in Draft view' and click 'OK.'
6. Click the 'View' tab on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
7. Select the 'Print Layout' document view. This will now be the default when you open Microsoft Word.
Word 2007
8. Click the Microsoft Office button in the upper left corner of the screen.
9. Click 'Word Options' and select 'Advanced.'
10. Find the 'General' category.
11. Uncheck the box next to 'Allow opening a document in Draft view' and click 'OK.'
12. Click the 'View' tab on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
13. Select the 'Print Layout' document view. This will now be the default when you open Microsoft Word.
