How to Undo a Default Hyperlink on Word Documents
Removing Individual default hyperlinks from a Word document
1. Open the Word document on your computer.
2. Highlight the hyperlinked text by left-clicking the mouse and dragging the cursor over the text.
3. Place the cursor over the highlighted text and right-click the mouse. Among the options that appear, select, "Remove Hyperlink." The underlined blue text will disappear, leaving the original text. (If you want to remove the text also, simply highlight and delete the text; the hyperlink is deleted with the text.)
Turning Off Automatic Hyperlinks in Word
4. Open "AutoCorrect Options" in Word. For Word 2002 and 2003, this will be under the Tools menu. For Word 2007, it is found by clicking the "Microsoft Office" button, then "Word Options," then "Proofing."
5. Click the "AutoFormat" tab. Under Replace, de-select the option "Internet and Network Paths With Hyperlinks." This will prevent hyperlinks from occurring in Word documents when you open them. Then click the "AutoFormat As You Type" tab and de-select "Internet and Network Paths With Hyperlinks" there, also. This prevents hyperlinks from occurring as you type.
6. Click "Ok" to close the box. Word will no longer create hyperlinks automatically until you re-check the boxes.
