How to Edit Footnotes in Word 2007

1. Select "Print Layout" from the "View" tab if you cannot see the footnotes.
2. Double-click a footnote reference in the body of the document to go to and edit the footnote text.
3. Click "Footnotes" under the "References" tab to launch the Footnote and Endnote dialog box. Change the number format (Arabic numerals, Roman numerals, symbols, etc.), starting number and numbering scheme (continuous, or starting over at certain points). Click "Apply" to save the changes.
4. Open the Footnote and Endnote dialog box and select the "Footnote" radio button under "Location." Choose a location on the page from the drop-down menu, then click "Apply" to save the changes.
5. Click "Show Notes" under the "References" tab. Click "Footnote Continuation Notice" to edit the text that appears if a footnote is too long to fit on one page.
