How to Put Page Numbers on Microsoft Word 2007 Without Putting Them on the First 2 Pages
1. Start Microsoft Office Word 2007. Load your document.
2. Click the 'View' tab in the Ribbon. Choose 'Print Layout' in the Document Views group.
3. Click a space at the top left of your document's third page. The cursor should be before any text that appears on the page.
4. Click the 'Page Layout Tab.' Find the Page Setup group.
5. Click 'Breaks' and choose 'Next Page.' This option is under Section Breaks.
6. Click the 'Insert' tab. Your cursor should still be on the third page, beneath the new section break.
7. Click 'Header' or 'Footer' in the Header & Footer group. Choose 'Header' to place your page number at the top of the page; choose 'Footer' to place your page number at the bottom of your page.
8. Click 'Edit Header' or 'Edit Footer' from the drop-down menu. This opens the Header & Footer Tools Design tab.
9. Find the Navigation group. Click 'Link to Previous' if it's highlighted. This deselects the option, and makes your new section header retain its own formatting rather than using the formatting from the previous section.
10. Find the Header & Footer group. Click 'Page Number.' Select 'Current Location' from the menu and then choose a page number style. This places a page number in either the Header or Footer of your document's third page. No page numbers should appear on the previous two pages; if they do, check the 'Link to Previous' option again.
