How to Unlock Documents for Microsoft Office Word 2007
Unlocking Password-Protected Word 2007 File
1. Open the file you want to unlock in Word 2007.
2. Resave it without a password by clicking on the Microsoft Office Button and selecting 'Save As.'
3. Click on 'Tools' and 'General Options' in the 'Save As' dialog box. Then remove the password to open and modify the document and click on 'OK.'
4. Click on 'Save' to preserve the changes.
Unlocking Part of a Document or an Entire Document
5. Open the Word document you want to modify and go to the locked area in the document. Try to change that area... You won't be able to. The 'Restrict Formatting and Editing' task pane will open on the right instead.
6. Go to the task pane and select 'Stop Protection' from the bottom.
7. Enter the password to unlock the document and press 'OK.'
8. Select the Microsoft Office Button and click on 'Save' to resave the document to preserve the change.
