How to Replace Straight Quotes With Curly Quotes in Word 2007


Check Your Settings
1. Click the round button that bears the Microsoft Office logo in the top left corner of the screen. At the bottom of the dropdown menu, click 'Word Options.' On the left of the menu, select 'Proofing'; then, under the first section that appears, click the button labeled 'AutoCorrect Options' and another menu will pop up.
2. Click the 'AutoFormat' tab; under the 'Replace' heading, make sure that the first option---'Straight quotes' with 'smart quotes'---is checked, directs Microsoft Office Online. Then click on the 'AutoFormat As You Type' tab. Select the first option ('Straight quotes' with 'smart quotes') under the 'Replace as you type' heading.
3. Click 'OK' at the bottom of the pop-up menu, then click 'OK' at the bottom of the 'Word Options' menu.
Change the Quotation Marks
4. Press 'CTRL' + 'F' to bring up the 'Find and Replace' menu, and select the 'Replace' tab.
5. Type one double quotation mark (') in the 'Find what' field, and type another double quotation mark in the 'Replace with' field.
6. Click the button labeled 'Replace all,' and all the straight quotes will transform into curly quotes.
