How to Install Microsoft Word on a Netbook Using a Jump Drive
1. Insert a blank jump drive into a USB port of a computer that has a CD drive.
2. Place your Microsoft Word software CD into the CD drive of your computer.
3. Hold down the 'Shift' key as you close the CD drive. This will prevent the CD from automatically installing Microsoft Word on the computer.
4. Open the CD drive. The files that are on the CD will appear in a window. Click on the first file that appears. Then hold down the 'Shift' key and click on the last file so that you select all of the files.
5. Release the 'Shift' key. Then hover your mouse over any file and right-click. Select the 'Copy' option from the context menu.
6. Open the jump drive. Hover your mouse over the jump drive window and right-click. Select the 'Paste' option to copy the files onto your jump drive. Close the jump drive and right-click on the jump drive icon with your mouse. Select the 'Eject' choice from the menu to safely remove the jump drive.
7. Insert the jump drive into the USB slot of your netbook.
8. Open the jump drive. The top of the screen should have an Setup.exe icon. Double-click on this file to begin the process of installing Microsoft Word.
