How to Convert a Scanned Word Document Into Editable Text

1. Scan your document and save it as whatever image you would like. The most common extensions are '.jpeg' and '.gif.' If your image is already scanned, you can skip this step.
2. Open that image and select 'Save As' under the 'File' tab. Name the file whatever you want, but make sure you save it as a TIFF file. This is represented by the '.tiff' extension. For example, to save a scanned document called 'Homework,' you would save it as 'Homework.tiff.'
3. Open Microsoft Office Document Imaging. You can open this program under the 'Start' menu. Then go to 'All Programs' and it will be listed under 'Microsoft Office.'
4. Open the 'Tools' tab and select 'Send Text to Word.' The process will take a couple minutes at the most. Microsoft Word will automatically open, and your scanned document will be in editable mode.
