1. Open Microsoft Word.
2. Open the document in which the symbols appear.
3. Click the 'Show/Hide Paragraph Marks' icon in the Office toolbar. This icon looks like a backwards capital 'P' and is in the Paragraph section of the Home tab. The symbols are now hidden.
