How to Do a Hanging Indent in Word 2007

Option 1
1. Highlight the paragraph where you want the hanging indent to appear. If you want it to pertain to the entire document, hold down the “Ctrl” button and click on “A” on the keyboard to highlight the whole document.
2. Locate the horizontal ruler at the top of the document and note the slide on it that looks like an hourglass.
3. Click and drag the bottom portion of the slide to the point where you want the hanging indent to be—this will create the hanging indent in all the highlighted text. Once the hanging indent is applied, click once on any part of the document to remove the highlight.
Option 2
4. Highlight the paragraph(s) you want to apply a hanging indent to. Click on the “Page Layout” tab on the top of the Word 2007 document. Click on the “Paragraph” dialogue box launcher, which will open a separate series of options. Click on “Indent and Spacing” from the tab options.
5. Click on “Special” in the “Indentation” section and select “Hanging Indent” from the menu that pops up.
6. Enter the specific value you want to give your hanging indent—the indent is automatically set at half an inch; you can increase or decrease this as you like. This option is suitable for more precise indent measurements.
