How to Make Microsoft Word 2007 the Default


Make Microsoft Word the default file to open word processing documents
1. In Windows XP and Vista, right click on the Word file you'd like to open.
2. In Windows XP, highlight the option 'Open With.' A pop-up window will appear with a list of programs, select the option 'Choose Program.' In Vista, follow the same steps but the choice is 'Use Default Program.'
3. A full list of word processing programs will appear. In both XP and Vista, select the Microsoft Word 2007 icon and check the box at the bottom of the window that says 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.'
4. Microsoft Word 2007 will be the default program for opening word processing documents.
