How to Fix MS Word 2007
Automatically Fixing Setup Problems
1. Open the Word 2007 program. Close as many other applications and programs you can.
2. Click the Office button in Word. Select 'Word Options.'
3. Click 'Resources.' Click the 'Diagnose' button next to 'run Microsoft Office Diagnostics' to diagnose and repair problems with Microsoft Word. Click 'Continue' and then 'Start Diagnostics.' Wait for Microsoft to run and complete each of the five diagnostic tests, including the setup test to check for corruption in files and registry settings. Follow the on-screen prompts during the diagnostic process and to repair problems that the diagnostic test finds. Click 'Continue' to complete the tests and view the results on the Microsoft website.

4. Click the Windows logo button in Windows 7 and Vista or the 'Start' button in XP. In Windows XP, click 'Search files and folders' and in the 'All or part of the file name box,' type 'Normal.dotm.' Select your primary hard drive in the 'Look in' section and click 'Search.For Windows Vista and 7, type 'Normal.dotm' in the 'Search files' box in the Start Menu; right-click the file found and select 'Open file location.'
5. Right-click the 'Normal.dotm' file and select 'Rename file.' Type 'Normal.old' and press 'Enter.' Click 'Yes' if a confirmation message appears.
6. Open the Word 2007 program and attempt to create new files, edit and save existing ones and print documents as normal. Renaming the 'Normal.dotm' global template causes Word to reset options and settings that may have been causing problems and error messages that mention 'abnormal program termination' or 'Runtime Library Runtime Error.'

7. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
8. Click the 'Tool' menu bar and select 'Internet Options.'
9. Click the 'General' tab. Click 'Settings' in the 'Browsing history' section. Click 'Move' to open the 'Browse for Folder' box. In Windows Vista and 7, expand 'C:' and then the 'Users' folder, expand the username with which you're working and then the 'AppData' folder. Expand 'Local,' then 'Microsoft' and click on 'Windows' to select it. Click 'OK.'In Windows XP, expand 'C:' and then 'Documents and Settings.' Expand your username folder and click 'Local Settings.' Click 'OK.'
10. Click 'OK' to close the 'Temporary Internet Files and History Settings' box. Click 'OK' to close the 'Internet Options' box.' Close Internet Explorer.
11. Open Microsoft Word and work with files normally. Moving the temporary Internet files folder fixes the error message when opening or saving Word documents: 'Word could not create the work file. Check the Temp environment variable.'
