How to Open Open Office Documents in Word
1. Download the Sun ODF Plugin for Microsoft Office from the Sun website (see Resources section for link).
2. Install the plugin. Go to the location that you saved the plugin to during the download process. Double-click on the file and follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
3. Open the Open Office document (*.odt) document in Microsoft Word. Click on "File" then "Open" (if you are using Microsoft Word 97 to 2003 version) or "Office button" then "Open" in Word 2007. The "Open" dialog box appears. Navigate to the location of the .odt file. Click the file and click "Open." The Open Office document will open in Microsoft Word.
