How To Type Fractions In Microsoft Word 2007

Automatic Function
1. Type the numerator -- the top number in the fraction.
2. Type a forward slash, /.
3. Type the denominator -- the bottom number in the fraction.
4. Type a space. Microsoft Word will automatically reformat the two numbers and the slash into a fraction.
Insert a Fraction
5. Click the 'Insert' tab.
6. Click the 'Symbol' icon; at the bottom of the drop-down menu, click 'More Symbols.'
7. Select '(normal text)' for the 'Font' field on the Symbols menu. Select 'Number Forms' for the 'Subset' group. This will take you directly to the section in the Symbols menu that contains fractions.
8. Select the fraction you want to insert. The symbols menu only includes a limited number of simple fractions, such as 2/3 and 3/5.
9. Click 'Insert' at the bottom of the dialog box, then click 'Close.'
