How to Convert Word 97 Files to PDF
Open Office
1. Download and install the office suite Open Office.
2. Open the 'OpenOffice.org Writer' software.
3. Click 'File' at the top of the program. Then, choose 'Open.' A window will appear.
4. Search for the Word 97 file you wish to convert to PDF. When you have located the file, highlight it and select 'Open.' The Word 97 file will open in Open Office.
5. Click 'File' once more. This time, however, you will select the 'Export as PDF' option. A window will open.
6. Click the 'Export' button in the window. A larger window will then open.
7. Enter a name for the newly created PDF file in the bottom of this window. You can also choose a folder on your computer that will hold this new PDF file in the middle of the window if you wish to do so.
8. Click 'Save.' The Word 97 file will be converted to a PDF and saved onto the computer.

9. Go to the converter page on the PDF Online website.
10. Click the 'Browse' button near the top of the converter page. A window will open. Find the Word 97 file you want to convert to PDF. Highlight this file and select 'Open.'
11. Enter a name for the converted PDF file in the 'Step 2' box. Then, type your email address in the 'Step 3' box. The Word 97 file will be uploaded to this website and converted to PDF. A message will appear on the Web page when this process completes.
12. Log into your email account. Open the email from the PDF Online website. The Word 97 file that was converted to PDF will be attached in that email. Click the link for that attachment in order to save the converted file to your computer.
