How to Use My Word Macros on Another Computer
1. Make sure the “Developer” tab is enabled for Word on both computers. To do this, in each copy of Word click the Microsoft Office button, then “Word Options,” and “Popular”. Check the box labeled “Show Developer Tab in the Ribbon.” Click “OK.”
2. Create a new template on the original computer. To do this, click the Microsoft \"Office\" button, “New,” “Blank Document” and “Create.” Click the \"Office\" button again, then click “Save As.” For Windows Vista users, click “Favorite Links,” then “Templates.” For Windows XP users, in the “Save In” field, click “Trusted Templates.” In the “Save As Type” field, select “Word Macro-Enabled Template.” Give the template a name, then click “Save.”
3. Copy your macros on the original computer to your newly created template. Click the “Developer” tab, then the “Document Template” button. At the bottom of the “Templates and Add-ins” window, click the “Organizer” button. In the “Organizer” window, click on the “Macro Project Items” tab. One side should already be showing the Normal.dotm template file, which is the default location for macros. On the other side of the window, drop down the list box labeled “Macro Project Items available in” and select your newly created template file. Then from the Normal.dotm side, select the macro object you wish to copy, and click “Copy.”
4. Copy the new template file to the destination computer.
5. On the destination computer, use “Organizer” to copy your macros from the copied template file to the default template file. Repeat Step 3 except this time copy your macros from the copied template file to the default template file (Normal.dotm).
