How to Open MS Office XML Files in OpenOffice

1. Choose the 'File' menu from an OpenOffice program like Writer and select 'Open' to display the Open dialog box.
2. Choose 'Microsoft Word XML' in the Files of Type drop-down to limit the display to Microsoft XML files. Depending on the specific format type, such files can have the 'xml,' 'docs' or 'dotx' extensions.
