How to Write Text on Top of a Graphic in Microsoft Word


1. Click the "Insert" tab and click "Shapes" in the Illustrations grouping.
2. Click "New Drawing Canvas."
3. Click the canvas and click the "Insert" tab again. This time, click "Picture" in the Illustrations grouping.
4. Browse to the picture to which you want to add text. Double-click the picture to select it.
5. Click the "Insert" tab yet again and click "WordArt" in the Text grouping. Select the type of text you want to use on your picture and type the text that you want to appear over the picture.
6. Click the edge of the photo to select it, press and hold "Ctrl" and click the WordArt you typed to select it. Both items should be selected.
7. Click the "Format" tab and click "Group" in the Arrange grouping. Click "Group" again to group the text and the picture. The two items are now one.
