How to Make a Smiley in MS Word

Basic Fonts
1. Click on the document location where you want to insert the smiley face.
2. Turn on your computer's 'NumLock' option.
3. Press and hold the 'Alt' key.
4. Press the '1' key on your 10-pad.
5. Let go of both keys. A smiley face should appear in the Word document. If there is no smiley face, your computer does not currently support this special character for a basic Times New Roman or Arial font, and you'll need to use a special font.
Wingdings Font
6. Click on the place in the Word document where you want to insert a smiley face.
7. Click on the 'Font' drop-down box under the 'Home' tab.
8. Select 'Windings' from the list of fonts. Wingdings comes pre-installed on most computers, and it offers a smiley face character.
9. Press and hold the 'Shift' key.
10. Press the 'J' key on your keyboard. A smiley face inserts into the document.
