How to Write Fractions on a Word Document
1. Open Microsoft Word and locate the 'Insert' option on the uppermost toolbar. Click to reveal a drop-down menu and select 'Object' to reveal a pop-out menu with a scrollable list of object types.
2. Scroll down the object list until you reach 'Microsoft Equation 3.0'--select it and click 'OK' to continue. An equation bar will appear on your screen; the bar has a variety of numbers and symbols separated into buttons. There are 10 buttons along the top line of the menu, and nine along the bottom line.
3. Select the fraction and square root button that is located on the second line of the menu, second button in from the left. Clicking on it will reveal a drop-down menu of even more buttons.
4. Select the top-left button from the new drop-down menu to reveal a bordered box inside your Word document page. The box will contain a fraction with blank boxes for you to fill in with numbers.
5. Put the numbers inside the boxes to create your fraction. The numbers can be as long or as short as you want and can be deleted and rewritten in the same way that Word text is.
6. Double-click outside the format box (i.e. onto a blank section of the page) to remove it. Your fraction is now a movable image that can be formatted, resized and edited. Simply repeat the process to insert a new fraction.
