How to Insert the Date in Microsoft Word


1. Open Microsoft Word and start a new document or open an existing file into which you would like to insert the date.
2. Click within the document so that your cursor appears where you would like to insert the date.
3. Choose the 'Insert' menu and click 'Date and Time' to open the 'Date and Time' dialog box.
4. Select the date format you would like to insert by clicking on the format in the 'Available formats' list in the dialog box.
5. Click the check box in front of 'Update automatically' to automatically update the date whenever the document is opened. If you don't want the date to be updated, leave this check box empty.
6. Click the 'OK' button to close the 'Date and Time' dialog box and input the date in the date format you have chosen.
