How to Use Microsoft Word with WordPerfect 12
1. Use the batch conversion utility feature in WordPerfect 12 to open and convert Word documents to WordPerfect 12 documents. This feature is designed specifically for shortening the length of time it takes to convert Word files into a format that you can edit in WordPerfect 12.
2. Use WordPerfect's 'Save As' command feature to save any WordPerfect 12 file as a Microsoft Office document. WordPerfect 12 will open and save to any Word format, except for Word 2007. When you open the Word document in WordPerfect 12, the file opens automatically as a WordPerfect compatible file. If you modify the file and want to save it back to its native Word format, use the 'Save As' command and save it as a Word document.
3. Use Microsoft Word 2007 to open WordPerfect 5 or 6 documents. You will not be able to save back to a WordPerfect document once you have opened the file. Word only has converters that will open older versions of WordPerfect. If you want to open newer versions of WordPerfect in any version of Microsoft Word, you'll have to save the WordPerfect file as an older version in WordPerfect first, then use Microsoft word to open the file.
4. Use optional WordPerfect navigational configurations in Word if you are a WordPerfect user switching to Word and you want to use a menu and shortcut key configuration you're familiar with. With the cross platform compatibility features each of these word processors have, working between the two of them isn't the same problem that it used to be.
