How to Put an Image in a Word Document Header

1. Double-click the Microsoft Word shortcut icon on your desktop to open the program. Alternatively, click the 'Start' button, go to 'All Programs' and click on Microsoft Word from the list of programs to open it.
2. Click the Office button and select 'Open.' Navigate to the directory or folder in which the document that you want to insert a header image is saved. Double-click the file to open it in Microsoft Word.
3. Click the 'Insert' Ribbon. Click 'Header' from the 'Header and Footer' group. Click the type of header you want for your document to insert it.
4. Click anywhere in the document's header area to position the mouse cursor where you want to insert the image. Click 'Picture' or 'Clip Art' from the 'Insert' group in the Header and Footer 'Design' Ribbon.
5. Navigate to the file of the image you want to insert in the 'Insert Picture' window. Double-click an image file to insert it into the header. Alternatively, click once on a clip art image from the 'Clip Art' section to insert it in the header.
6. Look at the 'Size' group on the Picture Tools' 'Format' Ribbon. Click and hold the down arrow button in the 'Height' or 'Width' section to shrink the size of the picture or clip art, if the image is too large and not visible in the document header. Alternatively, type an appropriate number in the 'Height' or 'Width' box and press 'Enter' to resize the image. Click and drag the image's outer-edge circular resize controls to adjust the image and make it larger or smaller.
7. Position your mouse over the picture or clip art image so the cursor displays a four-way arrow. Click and drag the image anywhere in you want to position it.
8. Click the Office button. Click 'Save' to save the changes to the Word document.
