How to Make a Tent Card in Word
1. Start Microsoft Word and open a new, blank document. Click on the "File" menu in Word 2003 and select "New." In Word 2007, click the "Office Button" and click "New." In Word 2010, go to the "File" tab and click "New."
2. Type "tent" into the "Search Templates on Office Online" box and press "Enter." A gallery showing the tent card templates available in your version of Word appears. Click on the one you want to use and click "Download." The template opens as a separate Word document.
3. Select the text in a text box in the first section of the tent card template. Type your desired text over the sample text. Change the text in the corresponding text boxes in the other sections. Most of these templates have four sections, which print as two double-sided tent cards. Change all of the text that you need. Delete unnecessary text boxes by clicking the border of a box and pressing the "Delete" key.
4. Change the background of the tent cards, if desired. In Word 2003, go to the "Format" menu, select "Background" and select a color or fill effect. In Word 2007 or 2010, go to the "Page Layout" tab, click "Page Color" and select a color or fill effect.
5. Save the document by clicking the "File" menu in Word 2003, the "Office Button" in Word 2007 or the "File" tab in Word 2010. Click "Save As," choose a location in which to save the file and enter a name for the file. Click the "Save" button. Print the document onto card stock. Cut at the dotted line and fold the tent cards on the solid lines.
