Restoring Lost Menu Items in Word
1. Check your Menu to confirm the button you are looking for is really missing. Microsoft Word is intuitive and continually adjusts to show the options you choose most often. Click the double arrow near the bottom of the Menu items to reveal the hidden options. Click the Menu item you are looking for. Use that Menu item often and Word will place it in your Menu for easy access.
2. Replace the missing Menu item in Microsoft Word. Click Tools - Customize. Select the Commands tab. Click Rearrange Commands.
3. Add the Menu item you lost in Microsoft Word. Select the Menu bar at the top. Use the drop down menu to select File. Open Controls. Highlight the Menu item under the File menu and click the Add button.
4. Select File under Categories. Open Commands and select desired button. Click Ok. Word will reveal a preview of the File menu including your changes. Select the desired Menu item. Click Add. To adjust the position of the Menu item you added. Click Move Up or Move Down. Continue to adjust them until you achieve your desired results. Click Close to close the window. Click File, Exit to close Microsoft Word.
